Vegas Baby
After work last Thursday, Evs and I loaded up our car, along with Sage, and we made the short drive to Las Vegas! Evs Mom, Auntie and Grandma were flying in so we decided to make it a mini vacation. We stayed with Grandpa Stubbs in Boulder City, NV and it was so much fun just visiting with him and keeping him company. He is always an on the go guy, always has to be doing something..I felt real lazy compared to him. Anyways we had a blast. I love roadtrips and this was Evan and my first one being married (living on an island doesn't give you much opportunity to take a "road trip"). We really enjoyed ourselves. We had all our goodies in case, for when we got hungry/munchie. Evs drove and I stayed awake for the first hour and a half and knocked out after that..I tired hard to stay awake, but yeno my eyelids were stronger than me. We got there and went to sleep. Sage did well on the road trip , only a few whines, but heck if I had to pee like he did, I would have been whining too. We headed to the Techatticup Mine in Ghost town, Nelson, Nevada. Evs and I dont really enjoy too many "historical outings", we just arent that type of people what else can I say. When it comes to the Holocaust or WWII though we both really enjoy it. Anyways, so we headed to this Mine and it was so cool. The people that own it were friends of Grandpas and well, they have done such a great job with the place. They have all these old miners homes and have made them into their own unique places to stay. There were just so many things to see there and then the history of the Mine. I had never been to a mine, and it was quite cool I would have to say, Evs would have to agree as well. After the Mine, we headed to Colee (Evs sister) and Tyler Leavitt to visit with them. We hadnt seen our nephews in a whole year and it was so great! They have grown so much! We had such a great time! We miss them already. Sage tagged along with us to meet them, and the boys loved him, esp Jake. Sage did really well with them as well. Friday we hung around the house with grandpa and then Evs took me on a date to the strip. I had seen it a few times before but never walked it. Let me just say its one of those things you really only need to do once. There was far too many pictures of naked ladies on the ground, I walked with my head held high, thats for sure. Then you've got all the million card slapper people that try to hand you pictures of naked ladies..its just insane. But we enjoyed the beauty of the Paris, Bellagio, Venetian, MGM Grand, Ceasars Palace, Rio..etc. We enjoyed pizza, pretzel and dessert Crepe. I lost $1 because well I hated that game. Evs maxed out the credits on the first try and I lost. I didnt want to waste anymore money..so we just walked around and watched other people lose it haha. So much better that way! It was a fun day, lots of walking..forgot my walking shoes..my feet and lower back felt for my stupidity..We ended the night with some yummy Del Taco. We met up with our Hawaii family (our whole reason for going to Vegas) not until Sunday evening for dinner; they got in late then had an interesting time getting things situated, needless to say we were sad we didn't get a chance to see them more, but we did get a chance to spend more time with Colee, Tyler and the boys. We love them. We were also able to meet up with one of my favorite mission companions, Jecia Hutchinson. She lives in Henderson so we stopped by, she met Evs, we talked story with her and her family for a little bit, then it was ended up being 10:30 before we headed back to California. I think I lasted a whole 15 minutes in the car, while Evs drove. Hes a saint I tell ya. We had to stop so he could rest, but we were back on the road and I had no idea..I woke up periodically to see if we were there yet, then conked into REM mode. We had a such a great time! Its nice to be so close to Vegas now, to enjoy a good time with family.

Day 1
Today is the first day of having to take a pill for the rest of my life. I recently had some blood work done due to my constant exhaustion, lack of appetite, irregular periods..etc. I got my results back on Friday and it turns out that I have hypothyroidism ( thyroid deficiency). Not that I was excited that my thyroid doesn't function properly, I was happy to find out that it wasn't cancer (runs in my family), that I wasn't going through menopause at 25, and that my condition is fixable and that my medicine will make me feel better. I can be thankful for the advances in medicine so that Doctors can find a way to help keep me healthy. I also have to be grateful that at least the pill is a little pill.

Thank you Pepsi!
So I am not one to drink soda. I love water and juice, but on occasion (at my Mom's house, my Hawaii Parents house or if Evs has gone grocery shopping...) I will have a Cream Soda/Fresca. Well Yesterday I needed more than a Cream Soda/Fresca. My energy level was depleted I felt myself fading fast and I wasn't sure how I was going to make it through my next kiddo and the traffic drive home, but I have to thank you Pepsi..I am not your advocate for advertisement, but because of your level of caffeine and my lack thereof, I was able to make it through the rest of the day!

Date Nite
I love that just about anything can be date nite! Evs and I had to go grocery shopping so I decided that I would make that a date. I asked Evs, "Will you go on a date with me tonite?" And he said, "Where?" I said, "Its a surprise." He didnt go without many questions but we went and then he tried to guess what we were doing to ruin it all. I told him there were 3 parts to the date. So of course he used common sense and tried to guess them, but what he didn't know wouldn't hurt him because I actually did surprise him.
PART 1:
Eat dinner. Where? Evs absolute favorite: A&W
PART 2:
Grocery shop. Where? Costco. Oops it was closed. Who closes at 6 pm?
Part 3:
Go to Barnes and Noble and let Evs buy me a book I wanted.
Part 4: Evs addition
Get a foot massage from the asian ladies at the mall. He is a sucker to rubbing his feet.
Part 5:
Watch an on demand movie at home Evs choice.
My Life in Ruins.

Dehumanizing Sage-Day 1
When Sage came to us from Missouri he was a little scared. He was shaky and unsure of what was going on, but we were happy to have him come to our family. In the process of allowing him to adjust to his new life in California and us (not to mention he is so darn cute) we gave him lots of exercise, attention, and play. We thought that he was just sad when we left and thats part of it, a pack member leaving him, until we read up on it more and noticed that Sage has a little separation anxiety going on. So now we are working on how to fix it. Basically the articles called us out (me out) on our terrible doggy parenting skills and said we treat him too much like a human and point blank hes not a human and doesn't have feelings like we do, so we need to stop thinking that we are being mean or hurting his feelings and be the "Pack Leader". Especially with our breed, King Charles Cavalier, they need rules and commands, which he has like "sit", but now we are working on creating the "we are the leader of the pack" so that he wont be as happy to see us when we come home?? Odd right (I guess thats a sign of separation anxiety when your dog is happy to see you) Anyways, who would've thought that giving your dog lots of attention and loving them makes them think they are the leader?? I dont know..just what I been reading about..Anyhoo Sage is doing well with the new changes and we hope to be better doggy parents "pack leaders" to him..sheesh I am glad humans and dogs are different..Day 1 over..onto the rest of the days..yay for dog training!
"A well trained dog has something to fill his mind, has better control over himself and is more likely to respond to you when you tell him to be calm and quiet."

Lap Band
So I commute to work in Yorba Linda Tuesdays and Thursdays. I leave early and sit in traffic to get to my first case on time. On the way home my last case ends at 5:30 pm which is right in the dead of traffic time on the 91 freeway..iick. Anyways, I listen the radio for traffic updates and why everyone is moving slow and half the time there is no real reason, so I just jam out to the tunes. Well amongst all my jamming out I hear this one commercial seriously non stop throughout the entire day and its for the LAP-BAND. Now I could be so rude and go as far as to say what a ridiculous form of weight loss this is and what an insult it is to the field of exercise and sport, but I suppose it has probably saved someones life maybe. (This might just be the car fever from sitting in traffic talking too) My whole life I never really worried about my weight I have always been very active in sports.. good genes?? Hyper thyroidism?? never had a baby?? But I just admire people like my sisters who exercise. They get out there and run, lift weights, throw around hay bales, run after kiddos, whatever it may be to get their heart beating getting it stronger, exercise is important and I really think the world is starting to lose that important factor in their scope of health. The advertisements for this LAPBAND irritate me. Why? because they present weightloss not for what its really for, but make it appealing because they read results like I lost 165 lbs! Im skinny sexy and ready for summer! I suppose that anyone that has battled with their weight might disagree strongly, but exercise isnt just for making you skinny, its for making your heart and body strong to withstand illnesses and be able to recover from things faster. I get that its suppose to be the "new" gastric bipass and I find that if it can help you get down to a healthier state than great, but health isn't always about a number on the scale. Health is mental, physical, and emotional health. Its about being strong and making a lifestyle change not just a change in what section of the store and which racks one shops from. Just my two sense every time I hear the fake, non-motivating, advertisement. Goodnite.
Memorial Day PARTAY!
I told Evs this morning, "Its warm sunny days like this that make it okay that we dont live in Hawaii anymore, because it would really stink if on our day off/national holiday celebration it was cold and wet and we couldnt enjoy the glorious vitamin D rays." Glad to be here. We had a fun day with the fam bam. We went to Tony and Michelles for swimming, bbq, and a mini belated bday party for our niece Naders. We enjoy many laughs, lots of good food, marco polo, diving through a tube, and watching Sage have his first interaction with Tony and Michelles' dogs as we attempted to socialize him. He did quite well! Its nice to be closer to famiyl and enjoy fun get togethers like this. Of course we give thanks to those who serve our country and fight for our freedom and liberty so that we can enjoy the things we choose to enjoy. Happy Memorial Day!
