MOT

 Evan and I had to drop a friend off at LAX on Sunday. Since we were already down there, we decided to go and see the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles. I had wanted to take the train (never been on one) there for our 2 year anniversary (Dec 2010), but we decided to make the best use of our time and do it now. For some reason I have a fascination with the history of the Holocaust. Its a weird and odd fascination just for the fact that it was cruel and sad and horrifying what the Germans did to the Jews. But its a part of history that I can learn about and never get tired of it. Maybe because I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (aka Mormon) and my ancestors were persecuted and killed for their beliefs and for just living. We had a nice time. Part of the exhibit is you get a card with a name on it, and you go through as that person. I went through as Barbara Schechter, she was just a toddler when the war began and was one of the few Jewish children that survived the Holocaust. Ev went through as Peter Somogyi, he was just a kid too, but also survived. Neat experience. I am thankful that my husband always puts my needs before his and when I want to do something he makes it happen.

On our way to the airport I got a text from one of my mission companions/friends Jecia Hutchinson. She is from Nevada and happened to be in Anaheim. So after we went to the museum we headed to Downtown Disney and met her at her hotel and got a chance to catch up. I love getting opportunities to meet up with friends and getting big hugs ans smiles! 

Nothing

Today we did next to nothing and it was great! Sometimes these kinds of days are nice. Neither of us had to work. We had Evan's friend visiting from Hawaii for a grad school interview so we all got going when we wanted to, had some breakfast and then went out to the outlets. My brother Josh met us there and then we all went to In'n'Out, stocked up on movie candy, then went and saw the movie Eagle, starring (my celebrity affair) Channing Tatum. It was a simple day yet nice that we didn't have anything to do.

Movie Night

Today we were suppose to go to the Snow with the youth from our church, but due to the weather conditions, it wouldn't be safe for us to travel up the mountain. So instead last night I volunteered to have all the young women come to my house (approx 10 out of about 17) and have a PG movie night. It came complete with stinky feet, lots of junk food, popcorn and kettle corn, and not one movie but TWO (the girls insisted and I didn't care) I think the girls seemed to have a blast. They watched Letters to Juliet and Leap Year. It was a lot of fun having them over to my house to chillax and enjoy their rainy Friday night.

Our Valentines Day

This day was very similar to any day with us, except just a little more special, just the way I like it! Most of the day and evening Evs spent in class. I spent most of the day back at the dentist getting another surgery and then going to work. On Evs break from class he came home and made a beautiful path of flowers and got me some yummy white chocolate covered strawberries(that tasted amazing)! I was so surprised when I came home! I am thankful for the effort and love he put into making the "Day of Love" special! We had a gift card for food so we decided to get it TO GO and I picked it up on the way home from work. We ate around 9:30 pm when Evs got home from class. Not your typical Valentines Day, but I think it turned out wonderful. I told Evs all I wanted to do was play "Just Dance 2" on the Wii. After having my dental surgery..didn't have much energy by the end of the day so we played it the next day and had so much fun! Evs is really good at that game!

I made this book about our journey together the past two years for Evs for V-day. 

I want to quote something from Evans amazing note he wrote me, along with my dozen roses and my strawberries because he wont let me post the entire note.

"I can hear your voice now as I look at these flowers,'EVAN! I just had to pay $2300 for my dental procedure! We can't afford these!' This is my simple response, "Honey, we will never be too poor for me to buy you flowers. I love you so much! You are the best thing in my life. You are my greatest gift."

BBQ in winter!

A day like this can be comparable to a day back in Hawaii, on the beach in December. We had a BBQ in February! And it was AWESOME!

GUNG HEI FAT CHOY

A placid year, very much welcomed and needed after the ferocious year of the Tiger. We should go off to some quiet spot to lick our wounds and get some rest after all the battles of the previous year.

Good taste and refinement will shine on everything and people will acknowledge that persuasion is better than force. A congenial time in which diplomacy, international relations and politics will be given a front seat again. We will act with discretion and make reasonable concessions without too much difficulty.

A time to watch out that we do not become too indulgent. The influence of the Rabbit tends to spoil those who like too much comfort and thus impair their effectiveness and sense of duty.

Law and order will be lax; rules and regulations will not be rigidly enforced. No one seems very inclined to bother with these unpleasant realities. They are busy enjoying themselves, entertaining others or simply taking it easy. The scene is quiet and calm, even deteriorating to the point of somnolence. We will all have a tendency to put off disagreeable tasks as long as possible

Money can be made without too much labor. Our life style will be languid and leisurely as we allow ourselves the luxuries we have always craved for. A temperate year with unhurried pace. For once, it may seem possible for us to be carefree and happy without too many annoyances.

 Went to UCLA last night and had the opportunity to see Dr. Temple Grandin speak live!I saw the movie based on her life, and it was phenomenal! Seeing her speak though was such a neat experience and I love that I was able to hear from her personally about her struggle with Aspergers and the way she thinks in pictures. It helped me get a better understanding of how to help my kiddos with Autism. It was such an awesome experience

p.s. UCLA is such a beautiful campus..the buildings were gorgeous! It would have been nice to experience my college years on that campus, but ehh not my cup of smart tea..plus I would have never met my amazing husband and experienced the islands.

Never too late!

For my birthday cake I made a special request for my Husband. I wanted a cinnamon roll cake. Evs makes the best cinnamon rolls ever! But we have been so busy busy with this and that, that he hadn't had time to make it for me. So...last night (February 2nd) he made it and we ate it! Close to midnight almost 1 week after my birthday! I love that we are still celebrating! Never too late for some yummy special birthday cake from my husband! Love that guy!

We were in good company

When it rains it seems to pour lately! But we will get through it and we will be stronger because of it!
