Evan and I had a wonderful year. 2009 brought many great opportunities and blessings that we cant help but be extremely grateful about. We made many new friendships, many new meals, killed many bugs, almost finished the Book of Mormon and learned new things about each other.
Evan- completed 2 semesters and 2 terms with ONLY one left to go! He took many difficult classes and other irrelevant classes that he wish he could have skipped, but nevertheless, he learned many new things. He switched jobs from the Aloha Center worker (central information center on campus) to an Assistant Athletic trainer in the BYU-Hawaii training room (he is paid based on a scholarship, which pays for his tuition every semester; SUCH A HUGE BLESSING), working with all the athletes which he really enjoys. This job helped him get experience and find which career path he wanted to pursue after graduating. He applied to grad school at California Baptist University in October 2009 and we are anxiously awaiting his acceptance letter! In his spare time besides doing dishes and helping do laundry, he loves playing on his Wii. He is getting pretty good at the games he has, but thanks to Tony and Michelle, he was introduced to Fifa 2010 for Christmas and he now plays that game any spare moment he can find. With school, work, and spending time with his best buddy and wifey, Evan keeps pretty busy and is a great husband and best friend.
Darcy-"the sugar momma" worked for Miles Preservation since last July from home (another HUGE BLESSING). In November, due to management and policy changes, I was no longer able to work from Hawaii for this California company and was let go. It was a tough realization and of course I immediately worried how we would make ends meet, but it didnt take very long until the situation became a blessing in disguise. I knew that Heavenly Father would take care of us. I told Evan I was going to take a "vacation" to help with the disappointment of losing my job. I spent time at the beach and enjoyed it, I picked up more babysitting hours for the Cannons (love my little friends) and went stir crazy from being at home, but I read the whole Twilight Saga, something I had been really wanting to do just didnt have time. I submitted a resume on the Sunday after I was let go and received a call for an interview the next day. 24 hour fitness said they would have given me the job if I hadnt been leaving in 4 months. I know that I wasnt meant to get that job, but that the Lord was letting me know that he was listening to out prayers and that to believe in myself. I submitted a ton of resumes and but the reality of someone hiring me for only 4 months (until April when Evan graduates) was pretty slim, which is what most employers said. I came across one application for a behavioral interventionist (tutor) for children with Autism, applied, got the interview, and got the job. The best thing is that I can transfer this job when we move to California because they have a few offices there too (HUGE BLESSING). In the midst of so many things changing, I felt a strong prompting to also apply to grad school, came home looked up Loma Linda University and applied. My application was submitted November and we are also waiting anxiously for my acceptance letter. 2009 was a great year for me. I have no complaints and even though there were the curve balls, Evan and I had the faith that we would get through them because we knew that we would be okay and that everything would work out the way it is suppose to be. My favorite thing about 2009 was spending it with Evan and having so many adventures with him!
We spent New Years Eve with Mom & Dad Stubbs and had such a good time. We went to eat at Los Garcias with them and Aunty Chicky and Gma Quon. We came home and introduced Mom & Dad to the Wii and played a game of bowling with them. I dont think I have laughed so hard on a New Years Eve before! We had such a blast! 2009 brought so many changes and fun and I can only hope for the same for 2010.
